When I finished this book I was crying and that's enough explanation. It's just heart-wrenching good.

Praise for The Book Thief
"Poised to become a classic."
"Beautiful and important."
"Exquisitely written and memorably populated."
Is that so? I'm very confused. This book is so venerated that, if I didn't dislike it so entirely, I'd feel compelled to re-read it just to see wha ...more

wow. I have to admit I reached for this book very reluctantly... wasn't quite sure what to expect...

a girl and the contagious urge to read, in the most difficult times. when bombs were falling down it was her voice that kept people calm.
and the fact that not everything is always as it seems...

Don't get upset with my rating. The book is really good. However, it is not something that I loved. I typically do not read such sad books. However, I am glad that is was on one of my book groups book club book. I really love the detail that the writer used, as well as the narrator. It was an interesting point of view. However, the one thing that I did not like about the book was the amount of foreshadowing. At points it gets really annoying. I must forewarn people that this is a sad book.
