This is the story of a boy and his fox. At the beginning of the story Peter is forced to abandon his fox Pax. Peter's father is going off to war and he must go stay with his grandfather. From the moment Peter gets to his grandfathers he is ridden with guilt over leaving his fox. He believes Pax will die in the wild because he has been raised in captivity. Peter packs a few things and leaves his grandfathers house in search of Pax. The story is told from Peter's point of view and from Pax's point of view. The story develops both characters in and interesting and beautiful way. I could not put this book down. I hightly recommend it.
