This is a powerful historical novel set in Charleston. Charleston's sweeping backdrop creates a vivid scenery that is easily seen through the eyes of the two main characters. You can feel the drive, passion, and heartaches these two very different women face. They battle different types of freedoms, but battle them still. It's a great read by an amazingly talented author.
