5 stars for the narrator
It’s bordering on horror (a genre I never read).
I loved all the “slang” from the 1920ies! Instead of “Cool” young people said “Swell”! Ane they add “ski’ at the end of words like “You betski!” instead of “You bet”.
Young women are “sheba” (if I heard correctly …) when they are sexy and witty and you can call your friends Pie face.
In the beginning I was a little bit lost as we follow many different characters:

I'm going to have to axe this at page 151. It just does not hold my attention. The overacted 1920 talk really got on my nerves. I wish it was more spooky and I understand that the author is introducing characters, but I just don't feel like going on for another 500 pages and feeling annoyed. Sorry Diviners fans.

I have to preface this by saying I'm not a fan of the 1920's, but this book was still marvelous. Even though the book was quite long, it wasn't slow-paced and I didn't think that the story dragged at all. Also, it was quite dark for a YA book, which automatically made it better in my opinion because I love darker books. I was quite surprised by the creepiness factor, details on the killings and the generally gloomy atmosphere, and it was great!
