This is another book that I never posted a review for when I originally read it. I have always been very passionate about this series and the entire world that Clare has created. I had wondered if my opinion would change after rereading this almost seven years later but I am glad to say that it hasn't changed a bit. Frankly, I dont't think this was more of anything... it wasn't dirtier or sexier, it was just slightly different. And I would have less trouble with YA characters having sex than I have with YA characters using drugs *shrugs*

WOW. That took me a LONG time to listen to! 2 whole weeks!
Breakdown
First 60%: "Uggghhhhh.... when is this going to be over???!!??!???"
60-80%: "Okay, we're finally starting to get somewhere..."
80-93%: "THIS is more like it!"
93-100%: "How can this much of the book be epilogue? The ENTIRE LAST DISC is wrap-up? Ummm.... What the heck? At least it's interesting though!"
Seriously. It took me 14 days to listen to the first 60% of the book, then I listened to the last 40% today. Obviously this is not ...more

Yes, I only rated City of Lost Souls two stars. I really enjoyed the first three books: they were wonderful and exciting. Then the next books happened and the excitement dissipated. This fifth book in the series has some of what I’ve seen called “second book syndrome”. Book 4 felt like a first in a new series and was lacking the spark the original 3 books had. I ended up really liking this book, but I was disappointed that another whole book was pretty much dedicated to Jace being "possessed." I am not sure I could have taken it if there wasn't the other storylines. I love Simon and Isabelle, Jordan and Mia.. and Magnus and Alec, I am so mad at Alec.. and sad for them.. I am not sure what to think about Maureen... And Sebastian.. He is worse than Valentine.. Can't wait for the next one.

While I find the story interesting I am having a very hard time not hating Clary.
