Seeing how the people in this series deal with what is dealt to them in each book is what makes the story. This one is no different we still have the main characters dealing with brutal attacks from the past. What is interesting is that we see if from 3 or 4 different perspectives, the victim, the guy who thought he should have been able to keep her safe, and the doctor that has to deal with the aftermath, and the friend / co-worker. I am always stunned by the events in each of these books. People are messed up. Lena is a bitch who gets away with too much; but she also gets bit back by karma quite a lot too. She can't make good choices to save her life and that's a reiterant theme with her.

Sara and Jeffrey are different than I expected. Their emotional journeys are painful and not fast. I feel it is authentic though.

This was a fast-paced book that was hard to put down. I started with Will Trent series and realized I needed to read these first. Well-developed characters and a great plot makes for a good read. Lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I didn't particularly enjoy the plot and the character development was ok for Sara and Jeffrey but what the hell is this Lena storyline?? I really hope it gets better with the next installment...
