I wondered why so many baught this book but now I totally get it.
It's intense, gripping, packed with action and horror filled. The human specie is doomed: a plague like Ebola virus is killing humanity, death camps are set up by aliens to exterminate humanity and the humans are turning against other humans ...
You doubt all along who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. It's masterful, diabolical!
It alos raises many questions. What would you do ...more

Well, it's not Shakespeare but it sure was entertaining! The story drew me in right away with it's The Walking Dead type setting where society has completely collapsed and the biggest danger seems to be other people. Or aliens that look like people. I didn't have any strong feelings about Cassie. She is sometimes brave and smart and other times she acts like a silly teenage girl which she is so, you know, not unexpected. Zombie I totally loved! This is a strange book. Some of the suspense of the past scenes is entirely ruined, however, when we are in the present day with characters. If they are alive in the present day, with all their body parts working, we know no matter what they face they will survive. I had a movie I only watched about 20 minutes or so of as it used this exact same format and it had zero suspense no matter what bad thing happened to the main character. This was a good book by the end. If I was a YA, I would really be intrigued with the heroine, Cassie, meeting up with one hero, Evan, and wonder how she would react meeting up with the other hero, Ben.
Not being a YA, I thought that the buildup -- the establishing of the events leading up to this book and the development of our main characters -- was over long. The buildup was presented by Cassie in first person past tense and seemed nearly endless, though this may indeed have been the best meth ...more
