This was an easy-to-read novel about life in Jackson, Mississippi during the 1960s. I enjoyed the alternating viewpoints throughout the story. The characters were fully developed and entertaining. I definitely finished the novel wanting to know more about what happened to these characters. They felt very real to me. Stockett really tried to capture the fast-paced changes occurring during that time-period. Some characters kept up and some didn't. That just added to the entertainment.
