I liked A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird Book 1) Sci fi-ish YA, at the heart of the story was an invention that allowed a person to jump into there counterpart in another dimension - sometimes very similar, some times not. Leading lady Margarite's parents are on the verge of making their invention work when one of their graduate assistants sabotages her father's car, steals the prototype and escapes into another dimension. Margarite and another assistant head off after him determined to extrac

I'm not fond of YA books that put romance first, but Claudia Gray proved herself capable of formulating a story around a romance, rather than making it the entire focus with Lost Stars. While I don't feel as strongly about this book as I did Lost Stars, I am still very impressed with the way Gray weaves her magic.
In A Thousand Pieces of You, Gray writes about a young woman named Marguerite Cain who is at the centre of the science that can cross dimensions. She herself is not a scientist, but he ...more

You guys, THIS BOOK.
I hate to admit that I had some serious reservations going into this book. I mean, dimension travel? FREAKIN AWESOME... my brain hurts already. I attempted to read another book similar to this one and after reading the same 50 pages like, 10 times, I gave up. I picked this up thinking it would be a YA Contemporary story (based on the cover, I suppose). Boy, was surprised! This story perfectly captured how I envision alternate universes. It was really everything I wanted A Darker Shade of Magic to be, but not nearly as slow. The pace was perfect. The writing was straightforward and to the point without being dull. There was so much action that there wasn't a lot of time for in-depth character development or a whole lot of backstory, but I honestly did

not my usual type of read, but I have to admit that I enjoyed it. I really liked the alternate universe aspects, didn't care as much for the romance. Not sure if i will continue with this series or not.

This is one of my favorite YA books this year! I loved the different worlds that the characters jump into. I especially enjoyed the Russian dimension and the storyline with Paul. OMG! Heartbreaking! There is a bit of a love triangle but it is settled fairly early on. I had a strong suspicion about which one of the men was up to no good and I was proven right but I never predicted everything that went on. I couldn't wait to see what world they would end up in next and I can't wait for the next bo
