Set sometime after the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan, Ruth finds a washed up Hello Kitty lunchbox with Nao's diary inside. Ruth slowly obssesses over the teenage girl as Nao's story of her fucked up adolescence in Japan rocks Ruth's quiet north american island life.
