This is the best book I have read this year. It is about a American/Nigerian albino girl called Sunny and her awakening to the magic in her life. This strange new magic is earthy and dangerous, not cutesy tricks, more Ursula Le Guin than say, Ruth Chew. It is similar to A Wizard of Earthsea and The Dark is Rising and Harry Potter.
