I was desperate to get my hands on this after reading 'The lies of Locke Lamora'.Our heroes were left in a shocking state! Here we find Locke and jean in a new city, with a new long con, and a whole heap of trouble following them. I'm not the biggest fan of 'adventures on the high seas' but Lynch is just masterful with his use of language. He forced me to love this book. I cannot cope...as soon as that character was introduced I told myself not to get attached, I had a feeling I knew what was coming. But I forgot my own advice and damn did I get attached! This is the first and possibly only book I have ever cried at, and now I don't know what to do with myself...I've got the next one and I am terrified of reading it but I just...I'm gonna go sit in a corner and think about this book now...

Great book, but not nearly as good as the first. The cons, in my opinion, just were not nearly as interesting as they were in "Lies." It was a great book nonetheless. I cannot wait to find out how several things play out in the next book. Even though this is not my normal favorite "high fantasy", I highly recommend series for anyone who loves to read fantasy.
