I am struggling to formulate any coherent thoughts about this book because it was so heartwrenching, and hauntingly, serenely written in a manner that also at times could be formal and businesslike, but at other times, acerbic and incisive. I rarely read historical fiction but holy shit if it's like this please sign me up for more. Thanks to my bbs Denise Marie and Kristyn (viennawaitsbooks) for yelling with me about this and listening to me wax poetic about it.

My heart is broken into a million pieces. This book was such a heart-wrenching and haunting read and it had me sobbing be the end.
I have never read anything like this in my life and I need more stories like this. It perfectly shows that there is more to people than what meets the eye. We so easily make these snap judgments rather than taking the time to look at situations from another person's perspective - especially when doing so would make you turn from the majority.
