This story broke my heart. I can't believe this is a debut novel. It's so atmospheric, I felt like I was in Iceland. I was captivated from the very beginning. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, but I'm going to read it again later when I'm not as emotional about it.

I honestly cannot explain how much and why I love this book so much. It is just incredibly beautiful! I understand why it is not the most popular book ever (basically there is nothing happening the whole time and it is not for everyone) but it touched me and I am so glad I got a chance to read this amazing love letter to a country I now want to visit more than ever!
If it wasn't for audio I would have DNF'd this book. The names and all the different languages drove me crazy. But after all that I really enjoyed the story. I wanted to know what happened to Agnes. What caused her to murder those 2 men. Great audio book.

I liked the ambigous nature of the story, but it was still a heart-breaking read. And it did drag a bit in the middle for me when the main character was telling certain parts of her story and I couldn't understand why she felt the way she did. I would definitely recommend this to others, but that ending is a bit of a gut-punch; fair warning.
