What Members Thought

Here’s the thing. This book is well written. It’s unique. It’s a standalone YA fantasy book (WHAT?). It’s a popular author. It’s got a cool setting and interest plot. It’s got interesting characters. So why didn’t I love it?
I’m not quite sure what went wrong with this book for me but I can tell you the only reason why I finished it is because of the audiobook and the 1.75x listening speed. I wasn’t invested at all and I was just kind of wanting it to be over.

This book took me about 2 weeks to finish not because it lacked excitement, but because life got in the way of me reading it. This revolves around faeries and humans. I particularly like reading about faeries, but this one definitely raises the bar for the faerie genre especially for a stand alone. This book wraps up very well, but just like The Coldest Girl in Coldtown this book could potentially have a sequel. The story has enough mystery and romance to keep you intrigued and turning the pages

I went into this book with no clue what it was about. The cover was pretty and I knew it was an urban fantasy standalone. That was literally it. So I had no baggage when it came to this novel and I think my enjoyment of the story really benefited from that.
