the setup…
It begins with the murder of Stephanie Bekker, the wife of a doctor, was killed in their home while husband Michael was out of town. But unknown to the killer (and her husband), she wasn’t alone. Her lover was upstairs and later walked in on the scene while in progress. He runs out and the killer runs away but not before he mutilates her eyes. I listened to this one and really enjoyed it. The narrator does a wonderful job of making Lucas come to life.

This one was pretty dark as far as the murders go. Someone is killing women and taking their eyes.
Lucas has to figure out who is doing the killings and is in a pretty dark place because Jennifer doesn't want anything to do with Lucas because of what happened to her and the baby in the book before.

This third Lucas Davenport was a very interesting read, not only to see whether/how the police got their man/men, but also to see whether Lucas was continuing on his self-destructive path. I'm glad that one of my goodreads group is reading this series. ...more

4.5 stars

This is my favorite book in the series so far. Lucas Davenport is still out of control, but not as bad in the previous books. The mystery is captivating, even though we learn who the murderer duo are, following the police figure it out is full of tension. The ending was a total surprise. I didn't expect that at all. full review to follow.
