I have heard good things about this series and seeing that my library has them all in audiobook, I decided to take the plunge. I'm glad I did and will definitely be listening to the rest of the series, although with 26 books in the series, it will take awhile. In Murder on Astor Place, we meet midwife Sarah Brandt, the protagonist. Sarah visits a rooming house to see one of her clients and discovers that a young woman has been murdered. New York 1896, we meet widower Sarah Brandt who works as a midwife. She is estranged from her wealthy family after she chose to marry beneath her status, and therefore decided to become a midwife.
