I have such mixed feelings about this story.
Harry Bosch and partner Jerry Edgar respond to a call about a bone found by a doctor's dog. He's certain it's human and he turns out to be right, prompting the start of what ends up being a very cold case.
I loved the forensics aspect of the story, along with the procedurals. Nobody does it better than Harry and I enjoy his investigative style. There are other personal situations that impact the investigation and Harry's career that I found troubling. ...more

The police are called when a dog brings home a human bone after wandering the Hollywood Hills. When the area is searched, a shallow grave containing more bones is found. There are only a few clues to the case, but Harry and his partner, Jerry Edgar, want to close the case on this one.

This was a book that I think I read in the past, but didn't remember how it ended. I might have seen the show on Amazon and that is why. I loved this one and even though I did remember some of the things that happened. I didn't remember the ending though and that was a good thing.
Harry can never leave anything alone and I like that about him. He wants to get it right even though getting it right might not be a good thing for the department or for him. This was one of those that made me want to ...more

I had lost interest in this series and had stopped reading them but the tv series have made me interested again, plus I know people who love this, so I decided to go back. Unfortunately, this one was one of the seasons I had watched so there wasn't much of a surprise element in it. I still liked and will read the next one.
