Harry and his team (Kizmin Rider & Harry Edgar) are called to a murder scene at Angels Flight. They soon find they've been assigned the worst of cases as the victim is a high profile civil rights attorney who is in the middle of a multimillion dollar lawsuit against the LAPD. As with many of his cases, Harry's just drawn a really thorny, short stick.

The police have never liked Attorney Howard Elias who was constantly bringing cases against the Department. So when he is gunned down, there are a lot of suspects. Harry Bosch is assigned the case. I loved this installment of the Harry Bosch series. These books are very gritty and don't always have the outcome that you would hope for and I believe that is what I like about them the most.
This one involves the potential of crooked police officers and what can happen if they are not prosecuted or investigated. The city can erupt because of the perception of brutality or tampering with evidence.
I love how Harry and his crew solved this one and look forward to the next installment. ...more

This is the best so far in a great series. Harry continues to solve the crimes but his personal life is once again falling apart. Lots of twists and excellent characters make for a real page turner. I'm looking forward to reading the next book as Connelly never disappoints. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Harry Bosch and also to anyone looking for a good book to read.
