I've said it before and I will say it again: If you are a Creationist--if you believe in the Bible--and you love sci-fi, you should read this series! I enjoy sci-fi, but it is almost always based on evolutionistic presupposition. This series is not. And yet it is just as imaginative, just as creative and "out there" as any other sci-fi series.

Here is a sci-fi series that actually gives credit to a Creator. It not only acknowledges God, but recognizes His i Saved $7 because I Snagged @ the Library

I've said it before and I will say it again: If you are a Creationist--if you believe in the Bible--and you love sci-fi, you should read this series! I enjoy sci-fi, but it is almost always based on evolutionistic presupposition. This series is not. And yet it is just as imaginative, just as creative and "out there" as any other sci-fi series.

Here is a sci-fi series that actually gives credit to a Creator. It not only acknowledges God, but recognizes His involvement in everyday life, as far back as the dawn of Creation,while allowing man a free will.

This book is a little different than the others, as it actually focuses on a Bible story, AND it involves the twins and not the usual main characters. But it's interesting, it's fun, and very knowledgeable. A great read for kids and adults alike!

However, I would be remiss if I didn't temper my glowing recommendation with a few noted points:

*****Warning! Slight spoilers here! Not much, but you've been warned!*****

This is a VERY creative approach to the story of Noah and the much debated verses at the beginning of Genesis 6 where "the sons of God married the daughters of man." L'Engle takes the position that the "sons of God" are indeed angels, and uses that as part of the basis for the Murry family's latest interesting and exciting adventure.

It's a little bit like an extended version of a trip in the Imagination Station at Whit's End on Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyssey. The twins get somehow projected back into the days before the Flood and get to meet Bible characters and some characters that L'Engle made up.

Biblical fiction is never without poetic license. So be forewarned of a few things:

1. The people dress like primitive cultures. Women don't wear tops. (There are no pictures, but it is described often--not sensually, just matter of factly.)

2. There is some faulty theology. The message is given that God won't allow anyone on the ark except Noah, his wife, his 3 sons, and their wives. Even his daughters (which the Bible doesn't indicate he had) are told they aren't allowed, and other people who indicate their desire to go are not allowed. Of course this is not Biblical and ruins the beautiful prophetic picture of Christ as the great Ark of Salvation.

3. A few other Biblical facts are incorrect or misrepresented, which I won't enumerate here. Just suffice to say that this story should NOT be read as a Bible commentary, but simply as a work of fiction--two modern boys get shot into the past and this is what they see--nothing more. ...more
