Great non-fiction book on the first train to take patrons to the west coast in the 1800s. The illustrations are rich and detailed. They come in a variety of sizes and are placed differently throughout the story which coincides with the pacing of the book. The text is also part of the beauty of the book as it changes to reflect the text too.

Details on travel by steam locomotive told in narrative format. Different text fonts bring the sounds to life as well. Floca slips in so much information for readers as they experience the travel first hand.

this is a spectacular book…not only does it tell how trains work, but the illustrations depict the engine and the national parks…this is a true treasure..worth reading and re-reading…
even adults will enjoy this gorgeous book
