I found the dates of when I first read American Gods, so I've added the book here along with selected snippets of my diary entries from the time that I read it. It's interesting that it was exactly 10 years ago that I read it (25th June-3rd July 2002/27th June-10th July 2012).
Only selecting a few short snippets for here, as I was v. young, wrote poorly, and clearly didn't understand parts of the book when I first read it!

First - this cover is not the cover I read from. Mine is faded red with a big and proportionately perfect tree on it. Gotta admit, it took a long time until I found out why it was cover material. Also, mine was printed in the UK in 2005. Not until 2011 was it reprinted in the US as the 10th anniversary. That is to say, the edition I read was released here several years before and had his "preferred text" in it.
