Interesting and fun - I loved re-visiting so many places I've been on road trips around the country. What made it more interesting was this time, the trips were with a seemingly lifeless ex-con who can't figure out if he's alive or not and a manipulative old Norse god as they prepare for the oncoming storm. A storm that has been building for generations as the old gods are increasingly pushed out of the minds of the American people by the "new gods" - Media, The Technical Boy, and the Black Hats

I'm not usually a reader of great big doorstop type novels. (No time, commitment issues, blah blah..) However, having read a few shorter books by the author I decided to give this one a go.
Good decision, as it turns out.
What a wonderfully crafted tale this is. The story unfolded, and Gaiman, as always, reeled me in with his beautifully drawn, idiosyncratic characters, sweeping and constantly evolving landscape, and a plot so bold and so whip-smart, that every few chapters I found myself smiling ...more
