Golden Son was an excellent surprise! Red Rising was AWESOME but Golden Son brought this trilogy to a whole new level of suspense, jaw dropping action, humor, and takes a deeper look at human nature. Pierce Brown has followed up his fantastic debut with a matured and honed purpose in Book #2. Can't wait for Book #3! ...more

Seriously. I'll cut a bitch. I need this book.

ARC???? Maybe??? Just re-read Red Rising for the millionth time. Just made the wait harder.

UPDATE: Here's the thing. I was nervous as hell to read this book. Not that I don't trust Pierce Brown to take care of me when I read his works. Because I do. Wholeheartedly.

But I loved Red Rising SO MUCH. You guys. Wow. I am the only child of a librarian, and the queen of the trilogy. Something magical about the number three when it comes to book

Okay. Now that I've had some time to digest what I had read, I think I'm ready to give a review that will truly share what I thought about this fantastic read.

1.) This book exceeded every expectation I had for a sequel.
2.) It did not fall to the curse of the sequel/second book, in my opinion.
3.) I have no idea how Pierce Brown can top this with his final installment of the trilogy.

So, let's get down to the dirty. This is one bloodydamn good book.

The fact that it starts off th

Riding on the heels of Red Rising, Golden Son is Pierce Brown's second installment of the Red Rising Trilogy. This book will stun you into contemplative silence by the sheer force of Brown's incredible imagination and story world conveyed in a swirl of description.

We find the hero Darrow, a Red transformed into a member of the Gold society, continuing on the quest he began in book two. He carries the weight of his secret from all of those surrounding him, creating an impossibly difficult relatio

Oh my....what....why....no words!! I feel like most books give you time to breath or to come down after all the adrenalin pumping fights, but nope, not here. You think you can relax and bam, it's like getting hit by wave after wave and you come up to breath and get hit with another wave.
We were introduced to new characters, and like the last book, I have learned to not get attached. Between betrayal and death, can't trust/love anyone.
This book is genius. The politics that are played and the wa

Golden Son by Pierce Brown does not disappoint fans of the first book. Darrow’s journey continues in this sequel to Red Rising. His worldview keeps expanding as his mission stays the same; to serve the purpose of the Sons of Ares. I anxiously awaited the opportunity to immerse myself again in the world of colors, technology and ever-changing loyalties. I wish I could say that reading this book calmed those anxieties, but the cliffhanger ending made me even more deliciously anxious. Any lover of ...more

Books don't get much better than this one. Pure fun. Had this preceded the Hunger Games, I don't think the two stories would even be mentioned in the same breath. ...more

I will be 100% honest. I don't know how to review this book.

It might be because once I got going, I didn't know how to put it down, so I was up until a ridiculous hour of the morning finishing it.

It might be because I'm still recovering emotionally from certain parts of this book. This is not a book for the faint of heart, especially as you get attached to the characters, going back to Red Rising.

It could be because I'm absolutely in awe. I'm a librarian's only child, so it's not like I have li
