A great start to an indie series. The author has a vivid imagination and the world she has created is compelling. She describes it as an "urban fantasy slow burn reverse harem". How exciting is that!?!?! It delivers on all of these in spades, in particular, the reverse harem. The way it comes together is completely natural and makes sense in this world, which I assume isn't an easy feat. What can I say? This book came highly rated among RH groups and that plus the paranormal elements = my kryptonite. BUT. Seriously. This read like a 13 year old girl’s wet dream. All the dudes have sizzlin hot bods and man buns and long hair and lithe (or muscular) bodies...so you’re reading along and getting all into the vibes but there is NO payoff. The “mate” trope allowed for inevitable instalove and “I will die for you though I met you yester ...more
