I'm happy to say that all of Tutuola's books are good. Of course I haven't read them all, so I could be liar, but I've not yet seen any contrary evidence.
This one is a heroic adventure--heroine faces all adversity and fights with magical assistance; a Sullivan's Travels/Prince Rasselas story--privileged person makes the fool error of trying to find out how the other half lives; and a comedy of sorts--in at least one aspect, the Satyr is an extraordinarily dumb monster, and Tutuola is clearly pla ...more
