What Members Thought
In honesty it is a difficult book to rate because so much of it is ultimately so personal to the author. There is a poignant power to Kaysen's words and she writes simply, honestly and movingly. She draws you into the life of a committed patient, not by depicting each day or week or month but by giving you an inkling as to the essence of the mental hospital. The patients, the nurses, the doctors, the students.
