As the story unfolds, we learn more about dear, kind-hearted, sad, and lonely Amy, and how her knight quickly devolves into an abusive, selfish loser.

Poor Amy! I’m reaching for my tissues because my heart aches for her! And then, one day, she vanishes into thin air. What happened to her? Naturally, my finger (middle one, of course) points directly at her dear douchebag husband. What the hell did he do to her? Did he kill her for money? Did he cheat on her? And how does he think he can get away with it?

I have to admit, the first half of the book is mind-blowing, smart, and riveting. But after the big twist, it loses its magic for me. The pace slows down, and the story seems to head down a blind alley. And the ending… well, I hate the ending. (At least in the movie adaptation, we got a small consolation prize with that Ben Affleck shower scene!) The book’s conclusion felt haphazard and abrupt, though when I think it over, it might actually be the most logical ending—a grim, unhappy-ever-after for one of the most detestable couples in literature.

I’d give the first half 5 stars, and the second half 2.5 stars, averaging out to 3.75, rounded up to 4.

I loved this Flynn book more than her previous two, which were darker, more intense, gorier, and more disturbing. At least with Amy and Nick, we can connect with their motives, flaws, and find some dark entertainment in admitting they’re both total scumbags!

It was a pleasure to take this walk down memory lane, remembering how great it was to read this book and then watch the adaptation. (David Fincher is still one of my favorite directors, and I hope he brings Mindhunter back to Netflix soon. Fingers crossed!) ...more

This novel is a unique study of marriage between perfect couples that proves no longer working or effective. Both of them lose their jobs due to the global recession. And thus there comes trouble in their stable life and the girl goes missing. Then start the trend of allegations, inappropriate behaviour. The best part of the novel is that it keeps you guessing throughout with enough twists and turns. Gillian Flynn is a great writer who provides enough punches and surprises in the story. Shelves: fav, favourite-authors, mystery-thriller

This book was on my reading list from a long long time , The writing style is amazing . The narration style from two point of views was also unique .

I didnt like the ending though , Amy was wrong she should have been punished for her misdeeds
