One word to describe this book: magical.

I cannot believe that I waited so long to read this gem. Cinder was so much more than I thought it would be. It’s truly magical, compelling, beautiful, and creative. It blew me away. Cinder is a retelling of Cinderella, but it’s so different than the original story.

I knew about this book for a long time, I was just always hesitant to read it. And now I regret not reading it sooner, but I’m glad that I finally did give it a try. Cinder is now one of my favo One word to describe this book: magical.

The world-building in this novel is off-the-charts good. It’s brilliant. After a Fourth World War destroys most of Earth, the countries left come together to form new governments. Cinder is set in future China. Cinder is a cyborg and is abused by her evil stepmother and sisters. Cinder is a terrific mechanic and all of the money she makes, her stepmother takes.

There was a little bit of info-dumping in the beginning because Meyer had to introduce use to a futuristic world and tell us what had happened in the past. There are people living on the moon, and they have a terrifying Queen. There is a plague that is killing people and doesn’t have a cure. I wasn’t confused or anything by the info-dumping, I was amazed. Meyer is brilliant. Cinder captures your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the end.

Cinder is a great heroine. She’s feisty, awesome, and brave. Cinder is a sweet person who cares about everyone. Prince Kai *swoons* is dreamy. They have SPARKS. There isn’t any insta-love, no unnecessary drama, nothing bad between them. Their relationship is just beautiful and perfect.

Cinder is fast paced and I was never bored while reading. There’s so much going on and it’s incredibly interesting.

The Conclusion:

Cinder is an amazing book, and so much better than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed this story. It’s original, unique, and fresh. Cinder is a powerful heroine, and Prince Kai is swoony. This story is flawless.

Readers who love sci-fi, fairytale retellings, impressive world-building, and likable main characters. ...more

4 STARS FOR MARISSA MEYER'S CINDER

At first, it got difficult for me to connect and imagine the world of the story. It was quite confusing and it also made me bored. Maybe because there were a lot of "mechanical terms." Seriously, it took me five chapters to like the storyline!

I'm supposed to be reviewing for my final exams instead of reading this book for the past two days!! Shame on me, but reading this was really worth it!! At first, i thought the author was "retelling the cinderella fairytale" way way boring maybe because it just didn't move me like many other books did! Prince Kai was not that attractive (err) and the idea of Cinder being a mechanic does not work well for me.
