This book shows that the best laid plans of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet gang aft agley, but that doesn't stop Mrs. B. from trying to snag the best (or only) available sons-in-law for her brood of husbandless daughters. Elizabeth Bennet, the second daughter, is cautious when it comes to the marriage market. Her judgment is not always totally reliable--and thereby hangs this tale--but we have to breathe a sigh of relief when she eludes the grasp of some of the more unsavoury candidates.

Just finished it today. I admit I only started to read this because I now want to follow it up immediately with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. But I found it did keep my interest and I look forward to also now watching one of the many movie adaptations. Any suggestions on the best ones would be welcome, there are so many movie adaptations!

3 stars: Good, but I probably wouldn't read again.
This book is part of my project to try and read more classics. So far, all it's doing is reminding me why I never read classics. However, Pride and Prejudice is one of those books that is a struggle to get through but you end up liking AFTER you read it.
I knew the basic storyline because I have seen the movie with Kiera Knightley in it. I liked the movie, so I figured I might like the book even though I rarely read (or like) romance novels. Basi ...more
