I saw the film before I read the book, which is not how I like to do things, as it can often be like taping a hockey game and having someone tell you the final score before you've had a chance to see the game for yourself. However, I can say that seeing the film first didn't really spoil the book for me.

This book was creepy. I don't believe this book belongs in the hands of babes... I'm not even sure it belonged in my hands.
This is my second Neil Gaiman book. I liked The Ocean at the End of the Lane much more. The style was very similiar... that glimpse into someone's imagination ... though that book was not anywhere near as creepy. Both books also have the theme of parental abandonment, which I'm not really fond of.
Overall, I won't reach for another of this author's writings. Though, if strong ...more

A very well written tale that both adults and children will enjoy. Coraline is a great heroine, with her flaws and her strengths. I really appreciated that (view spoiler) . There were also a good few scary moments, with quite a convincing villain.
