I first read this in high school, so it has been a long time--although I have also seen the classic film starring Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch. I am not a person who listens to many audiobooks, so this was an interesting experience.

Firstly, the reader (obviously a genuime Southerner) was a gifted voice actress. She subtly differentiated characters, often conveyimg satire but never going overboard into mawkishness or silliness.

I was reading this book with the sole intention of wanting to know how you kill a mockingbird. But damn it! There was not even a god damn sentence on how you kill those annoying pestilence who have made nest in my backyard. So, if this book was suppose to be a guide...this book sucks!

I feel bad for not liking this more, as it's such an important book. I read it so long ago that part of me wants to reread it. I was pretty young at the time I read it, maybe I could appreciate it more now that I'm older.

I just didn't connect with this book. The only poignant moments for me were the ones with Tim Robinson, and the trial that ensued. The stuff with Boo was just weird.

A good account of racial prejudice in the south and a decent coming-of-age story as well. Best to read it multiple times, because I know I missed some important details the first time around.
