I Loved this book: from beginning to end. Although the novel has received a lot of criticism for it's western influences and imagery I still found it an interesting read. I felt at the end of the novel that I did know more about Japanese Geisha culture and, as a result, I learnt some interesting things. I really enjoyed reading this book. Though it is a work of fiction, it is based on the life of a geisha and what she faces. A thought provoking, touching story of a child taken away from her parents and forced to face a new life. This story details the trialls she faces and how she works to overcome them.
