Worth the read.
The book is focused on Chris McCandless but it also tells the stories of other people who craved nature's company more than anyone else's. It's interesting to read about lives that are so different from my own.
I didn't give it 5 stars because sometimes there were more details than needed. The color of the blinds in someone's house, the way some dog walked, the names of his mother's siblings. But the rest was great, I would give it 4,5 stars if it was possible. ...more

I saw the movie that was based on this book back when it came out and was intrigued by the story. I was too young (elementary school age) to remember when the actual news story came out about Chris McCandless and his ill-fated journey into the Alaskan wilderness, so the movie was my first I'd heard of it. The book has been on my to-read list ever since. It's a short read (200 pages), so I finally decided to pick it up.
