So maybe "The Great Gatsby" is good at describing the life of the rich overclass during the 1920's but it still puzzles me that this book is rated to be among the greatest litterature in the world. This is my second reading of 'The Great Gatsby' and I have to say it fared much better this time round! I think I perhaps read it quickly the first time but this is a book which must be savoured and contemplated on each chapter. The language and style of writing was superb and the descriptions evoked so many glamorous and elegant (but also at one point quite gruesome!)images. The notes proved to be extremely helpful. I can now see why it is deemed of of America's modern classics.

Brilliant book. The language was difficult but I could just about make out the gist of the story. I'll have to read it again in the future!
