Tragic poignant story. Just finished it and my mind is swarming with thoughts. Loved Fitzgerald writing and the description of the people and areas dominating Long Island. At times the story was a bit dragging and dull, sometimes verging on the pointless. There were times however when the exciting diction led to an escalation in the story. It's also brimming with symbolism, which I would also love to study more in detail. Bleak ending though. 3.5/4 stars

Although it took me a while to read it (mainly because I got an e-reader in between...), it was a surprisingly short text. I mean that, knowing it was a classic and all, I expected it to be longer. But short it is, and concise, and really interesting.
The main characters are quite complex in nature, and I'd actually love to take a class in Literature to see how everything is broken down. One thing I will do, though, is reread it someday. Because I liked it. And it was well written. And I think I ...more
