I really enjoyed the book, but it didn't live up to the Amazon (or publisher's) 'book blurb' -- I was expecting Constance Kopp to be deputized right at the beginning & then show us how a lady solved a crime. Instead, the whole book was about the Kopp Sisters shivering in their boots as the local mafia came after them.

I was really surprised I liked this as much as I did. It kept me reading long after I really needed to do other things. I didn't realize this was a historical fiction until I was half way through the book. I did not find it contrived as some reviews I have read, I found the flow easy to follow and gave you information when it was most appropriate to know.
