With great sadness and heavy heart this title reflects little substantive change in the lives of Blacks in the United States. Turning the term slavery to underemployment reflects a similar state not only for Blacks but also for anyone who has been kept in poverty or servitude. These words by Douglass are little comfort in progress for American civilization today.
