It's recommended to read when I was a sophomore at the College of Education, Prasanmitr Campus in Bangkok by Mr Tony Kidd, our English teacher after I had asked his advice on some interesting novels then. This brilliant novel simply stunned me since it's one of my tough reading expeditions I explored alone. In other words, I read it for my sheer enjoyment as a means to improve my English skills.

A second reading 50 years later is even more enjoyable than the first. This time I concentrated on the secondary characters and the social structure of a small southern town. Dear Miss Maudie, the practical neighbor who loved to bake cakes and treated Scout and Jem like people, not just children, was not at all disappointed to have her old house burn.
