This collection is the foundation for fairy tales in the Western World. It was the brothers Grimm who came up with idea of cataloging widely known myths and legends under the "fairy tale" label and this was their first and most popular published collection. Modern fantasy would not exist without Grimm's Book of Fairy Tales.
