Robert Langdon travels to D.C. at the request of his friend Peter to deliver a lecture. Instead he receives a bizarre invitation to enter a lost world. He is joined in his quest by Peter's sister Katherine (although strangely no romance there), and is helped by many high ranking Masons as Masons and their symbols are the main focus of this book.

The premise of this is definitely not as interesting as The Da Vinci Code, and there were almost no interesting surprises. The story is told from multipl

I really love Dan Brown. His books are so very suspenseful, disturbing, and there is always one big surprise that you never saw coming. The story line for this book was pretty similar to the other two Robert Langdon stories, except that it was set in Washington DC… that is why I only gave 4-stars. The same crazy religious freak, same close friends in really bad trouble, same kind of search for Mason habits and secrets. I am also somewhat sad that the “hot babe” Robert Langdon that I originally sa ...more

I enjoyed "The Da Vinci Code", and "Angels and Demons" slightly less. "The Lost Symbol" was the same kind of book, and while the story wss vaguely interesting, I agree with another reviewer who said it was full of illogical events (I felt the same about the other 2 books I named above). Also, the overuse of the word "strode" really irritated me. Has anyone heard of a thesaurus? This was a fairly quick read because I rushed to get it over with. It was a cheap escape and fairly enjoyable to read a ...more

Another great book from Dan Brown; probably my favorite so far. It definitely makes me want to learn more about Washington, D.C. and plan a trip there. It was very fast-paced and hard to put down. I loved the introduction of Noetics. Something else I would like to learn more about. Of course, it's hard to believe that actual people have these types of conversations 24/7, but it's all part of the knowledge that the author is trying to convey. The book included a nice twist (which I did NOT see co ...more

I was a little disappointed by this latest book by Dan Brown. I thought it dragged throughout the first part of the book, but it redeemed itself in the last half. It also was very reminiscent of the "National Treasure" movies which also had the search around Washington DC for treasure as the plot. Overall, I thing it was a good book. But, don't expect the same impact as "The DaVinci Code". ...more

Brown writes a good story, esp for the movies. There is a lot about the architecture in DC which really makes me appreciate the beauty, culture and history of our nation's capital. ...more
