Made me want to check out Charleston, SC on vacation. My first Pat Conroy novel and I really enjoyed it. Interesting characters who sucked me into their stories. The novel mingles many stereotyped characters and kept the reality of their interactions fairly true to life. I gladly bought into some of what I felt were unrealistic ties because the story lines were thought-provoking and the main character a man I rooted for throughout the novel.

I didn’t realize how much I liked Pat Conroy’s latest novel, South of Broad until I had actually finished reading it. I am going to miss all of the colorful characters who happened to live in Charleston, South Carolina and attend Peninsula High.
