Not a day goes by that Colin's book doesn't enter my mind, reminding me not to use that paper cup, to put the plastic bag back, to walk or ride my bike instead of drive, and countless other things. I think of that garbage pile floating in the ocean two times the size of the continental US and wonder how I was so unaware of my own actions and their impact on this beautiful planet. I guess the title says it all... this is a true story of a guy from New York who decides that him and his family will strive to make NO garbage for a year (his child is a baby and still in diapers... pretty brave of him!) Although he can be pretty preachy and condescending at times, he does have a lots of great info on how you can make a difference in the environment.

There are a few things misleading about this title. First it wasn't just Colin attempting to make no impact it was his wife and daughter as well. Second they did not go cold turkey, but gradually added new pieces until they were about as no impact as they could get. This is a lot of his inner monologue, interspersed with super depressing facts about global warming.
