I thought this book was going to be a continuation of Lisa See's first book Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and was at first disappointed that it was not. Then I got into this unique story and decided it was quite good. By the end of the book I felt this may have been an even better story than the Snow Flower. I "read" both books as audio books, and I wonder if I would have read both on my own... but I am very glad I listened to both stories, they were GREAT!

ARC sent to me that I started reading immediately and then stopped halfway through when the main character dies from being lovesick! But I did want to see what happened so I persevered and it was very interesting to learn more about Chinese life and culture in the 17th century
Not as good as Snow Flower in Love but still definitely worth the time. This book groows on you as you mature with young PEony - and learn love's lessons - which are certainly not as simple as you might think.

I really was fascinated with this book about the love sick Chinese girl and her journey in life and death, but its has an anorexia theme that surprised me because we think of it as a 20th century disease.
Peony In Love is Snowflower and the Secret Fan meets Lovely Bones. In this book we meet Lilly's grandaughter Peony and follow her path to becoming a honored an ancestor.
