Leigh, the mother, is not particularly likable, which is a negative in the book. However, I did enjoy learning about her history. It definitely boosted my self-esteem in the mothering department!

There were things I liked about this book, the mother and teenage daughter angst and the idea one small mistake totally changes ones life and direction. But I found the narrator, the mother, unsympathetic. It was very hard to understand her view of the herself and her position in the world, even with her background.
