Sigh - why did I finish it? Parts were engaging, but there were far too many segments of the book that just didn't belong, or were redundant. At 350 pages, having even snuck another book in during my reading, I felt challenged to finish what I started. Sigh.

This was a slow-moving, but good book. There was no hugh storyline, fast-moving plot. But rather this was a slow story of a life in a small town. It is a good that takes awhile to get into, but once you've finished reading it, you keep thinking about it.

Russo is a wonderful writer of small town life and his characters have great depth, but I'm not sure how I felt about the story as a whole. Did I like Lucy, Sarah or Noonan? I'm not sure and maybe the ambivalence I felt was what Russo wanted.
