Julia is an American woman living in France in 2002. Sarah is a 10 year old Jewish girl living in France in 1942. At first glance the two have nothing in common, but there's a secret that threatens to tear both apart.

This was a quick and fascinating read as I was unfamiliar with the Vel' d'Hiv' roundup. The short chapters alternate between Julia and Sarah, and while both stories are interesting it is Sarah's story that I couldn't tear myself from.
