Here is a gem of a story... this story is about some pretty interesting people in a interesting time and place. The story is about Truly Plaice, who was considered a giant and her sister, Serena Jane, who is small and pretty. Love those names, but my favorite name in the book is Bob-Bob Morgan. The story weaves itself around these characters, and others, and touches on subjects like friendship, bullying, euthanasia, family, homosexuality, and living life to the fullest in spite of boundaries set ...more

eh...kinda feel flat about this one. i really don't even know what to say about it. never really felt much for any of the characters, thought the whole notion of mercy killing was handled quite cavalierly. best part was the quilt being a book of spells. again...eh... ...more

I found the portrayal of Truly's size to be inconsistent, & it drove me slightly batty. The number of victims in the book also irked me, especially because many had the ability to Improve their stations in life. ...more
