This Russian-inspired Leviathan-esque steampunk-fantasy is a fast read all the way. Although it's not until the last hundred pages that the pacing dials up into the stratosphere - I mean, wow. What a way to end it! - the earlier parts are loaded for bear (pun not intended) with plenty of world-class world-building on Bardugo's part.

I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I loved this and can't wait to continue on to the next one. This book definitely kept me guessing I wasn't sure where it was going to end. At first Alina kind of annoyed me but after she unlocks her power she starts to come into her own. I can't wait to see more of this world. I liked the extra note that I got to read from Mal's point of view it was very interesting seeing things from his view and what he was going through.

Ho adorato Ninth house della stessa autrice e mi ha colpito il fatto che invece io non abbia amato questa che per molti è la sua opera forse migliore...e quindi volevo sapervi dire esattamente il perchè io non l'ho apprezzata fino in fondo.

Wonderful. One of my new favorites. The world that Leigh Bardugo has created pulls you in and leaves you with a lasting image of that wonderful fictional land and it's well developed characters. I love books where the author makes you question where your loyalties should lie. With the best friend or the darkling?
