My rating is more like a 3.76
The book does a much better job of telling the story than the movie by Stanley Kubrick. On the other hand the movie is able to deliver jaw-dropping audio and video, so the book and movie are two separate entities in my mind. This is a story of advanced evolution of life on Earth and space exploration. Both the book and movie are fairly slow-moving, but I found that the book was easier to take in.
